Hello, I’m Lexi and I’m a tech addict
Some of my friends think I’m addicted to technology. D’uh! Like that’s a bad thing? It’s not like I can help it anyway, y’know. My dad’s like my drug pusher. Since he’s a technology reviewer, I’m always getting new tech toys to try out. Fun! (Some of the kids at school say real drugs are fun, but I wouldn’t know about that. If they want to get addicted to something safer - and legal - they should try technology.
It’s still probably cheaper.)
But I guess some people think “technology addiction” is something real. My mom was listening to NPR and I heard this MIT psychologist talk about it. Here’s the online version of that. She said that humans are wired (I think that’s a pun!) to make connections, even with non-living objects if there are no people around. Like how Tom Hanks bonded with that basketball in the movie Castaway.
I get that. I bond with some of my gadgets. Like my robot Chip is my friend. He’s like another pet, but way smarter. (sorry Wikee and Blogger!) I love my gadgets. But also my friends. I’m addicted to all of them I guess. Do you think that’s so bad?
