  1. This makes no sense to me, but according to a university research project, playing violent video games actually DOES good things to people! Here’s an article about it: “Violent video games make people more relaxed.”

This is going to mean Marcus is going to bug me even more about getting games with Mature and Adult ratings! Talk about a parent’s worst nightmare!

But wait, the study is only of World of Warcraft players. Marcus says that’s not that violent of a game — nothing like Grand Theft Auto. … Sorry Marcus, buddy! You’re sticking to Teen-rated games.

  2. Those guys from Columbine were into violent video games. Right?

  3. Why do I have to always hear about those idiots from Columbine? For all the anguish and restricted game time they have caused me, I wish that I could jump into TimeSplitters 4 and go back and off them.

  4. Yes, I remember what my old professor of psychology said, that playing violent video games changes brain function, desensitizing, that repeated exposure to games like Grand Theft Auto have a stronger influence on aggressive behavior than being poor, living in bad neighborhood, and getting beat up a lot.

  5. Video games are the cocaine of the electronic world. I learned the the hard way: Don’t play video games. Don’t own them. And for the sake of your children, don’t buy them. Since deleting Tetris, I have never played another video game. It’s too dangerous. Video games take what is most precious — good thoughts. And they are making kids fat. Did I mention that far too many video games celebrate pornography? Tetris had none of that, and it was deadly enough!

  6. Comparing games to drugs ticks me off. Come on Grandma!! It’s a good thing you aren’t driving around in GTA neighborhoods with views like that. It’s much easier to turn off your game console than trying to stop snorting crack.

Violence? Well sure, violence is everywhere. Why should it matter? Anything “violent” usually has cartoonish violence. It’s funny when someone comes at you with at lead bar in Stuntman. If anything, games make my life worthwhile. It gives me something to look forward to, and has “helped me” get some virtual friends.

  7. I don’t get it. What could be violent about Tetris? Those L-shaped blocks are rather phallic. Tetris needs to be banned immediately.

  8. I knew those years of Diablo II were good for me, giving me the good character I have today. :)

  9. Nothing better than knocking off terrorists in alleyways and abandoned buildings with a phat SMG, rocket launcher and a few gas grenades. Takes some stress out of a tedious day of work.

  10. I hear you, when I get home I light up the sony killstation and get right into CoD4 and feel good… It’s the best way to flush out my anxiety… So yeah video games make me more relaxed…

  11. I do game on my PC, but mostly I only play Everquest. Character name is Renta. Guys that play Everquest are usually jerks.

  12. I don’t play video games, what are you doing on Friday night?

  13. There’s only pixel violence in video games. It’s all simulated. No one gets hurt. Nothing is damaged, not even the screen. If I “kill” my friend in Unreal, he respawns, we laugh and continue, and he “kills” me the next time. Are people worried that my psyche goes through the effort of killing my friend in real life? It’s like a cinematic experience that lets you experience the movie, no problem. If you want to know a problem, it’s that little kid next door who grows up to be a mass murderer because his parents didn’t let him play video games.

  14. I usually have trouble falling right to sleep after playing Silent Hill for 8 hours straight. Too afraid to sleep, I guess.

  15. At the moment I’m playing ‘ Resident Evil’ which is cool, but there’s not much variation. Jill Valentine is my hero - a real revolutionary, in army garb, I’ve always wanted to be her. She’s smart, and knows how to kick some ass. Guys put her on their bedroom walls to lust after. Better for them than dreaming about Laura Croft’s boobies. This violent warrior has build up my self confidence.
