Please read this Privacy Policy carefully so that you understand our practices and policies. By visiting techGRL.com, you agree that your use of this website is governed by this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use. By contributing content to this website, whether original material posted to the techGRL Blog or photo galleries, or in the form of comments to material published on the site, you agree to the rules set forth in these documents.
Children’s Privacy
Participation activities offered by techGRL.com are not intended to be used by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly allow anyone under the age of 13 to register for this site, submit content to it, participate in contests, or participate in other services offered by techGRL.com. If you are under the age of 13, please do not attempt to register, submit content, take part in contests, or otherwise participate in this site’s programs or services. Of course, children under 13 are welcome to view techGRL.com — but they cannot be active participants until they become teenagers.
Users of techGRL.com may from time to time post photographs of children under 13. Please respect the privacy of these children and do not provide any information about any child on techGRL.com unless you are the child’s parent or guardian, or have the explicit consent of the child, parent or guardian. Parents or guardians who notice their children identified on the website and wish for that information to be removed should contact us immediately.
Information We Collect and Store, and Disclosure Policies
1. To simply view content on techGRL.com, we do not ask for any personal information.
2. techGRL.com users who wish to submit content (comments, blog items, photos, etc.) are required to register and provide at least a user name and valid e-mail address. Providing other personal data in user profiles is optional.
3. We require user registration in part to encourage responsible conduct among those techGRL.com users who contribute comments or content to the website. Once you have registered with us, you are not anonymous to us, even though you may use a nickname for your public submissions to the website and be anonymous to other techGRL.com users.
4. Your personal information as submitted during the registration process is visible only to techGRL.com administrators. We may use your e-mail address to correspond with you privately, or to send you administrative notices about the website and your use of it. (If you do not wish to receive administrative e-mails from us, then do not register to use techGRL.com.)
5. Registered users each have their own personal profile page, which includes personal information. This information is visible only to the user and techGRL.com administrators, other than the “About me” entry, which is made visible to all techGRL.com visitors at times. The user’s personal page also may include such information as all the content and comments that the user has submitted to the site, as well as personal information added to the page voluntarily.
6. Registered users’ account information is password protected. Please keep your password safe from use by others.
7. If you use a computer that is used by other people (for example, at a public library), remember to log out when you are finished visiting or using techGRL.com. Failure to do so could mean that someone else could access your account.
8. You may elect to receive e-mail content delivery and/or other services from techGRL.com and/or its affiliated services. Our e-mail services will only be sent to you if you request them in an opt-in basis. If you wish to stop receiving a regular e-mail delivery from us that you previously asked for, you may unsubscribe at any time by following simple instructions included on all our e-mails.
9. We will not share your e-mail address or personal information with our sponsors or advertisers unless we have received your permission. Because we sometimes use third-party services for site features (such as some e-mail delivery and RSS feeds from Feedburner), we cannot guarantee that those services will maintain these same privacy guidelines with your e-mail address. (Generally, they will; you should check the privacy policies of such services for more information.)
10. We may aggregate information collected from our users in order to target ads on techGRL.com. When we aggregate information in this manner, no personal information about you is included; you cannot be identified from this aggregate information.
11. All information and content that you submit to techGRL.com are stored in our databases. Even after information or content has been deleted by the user or by website administrators, it may still be archived elsewhere.
12. Although we make every effort to store your personal information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security.
13. Search engines (Google, Yahoo!, Technorati, etc.) and other sites not affiliated with techGRL.com or TGW Media LLC can be expected to search and archive content from techGRL.com. Even after a user or techGRL.com administrator has deleted a piece of content from our site, there may remain an archive of the “deleted” content on one of the search engines or its cache. Users must understand this fact of Internet life.
14. techGRL.com and/or TGW Media LLC may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpeonas, court orders, or other legal processes.
15. techGRL.com is based in the United States and operates under U.S. law. Visitors to and users of techGRL.com from other countries acknowledge this and agree to abide by the laws of the U.S. when visiting or using techGRL.com.
16. We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes unless you have specifically requested that we do so. (For example, you might request information about an advertiser by clicking on a “Send me more information” link.) We will not sell, rent, or share your information with unaffiliated companies or people except when: (1) as necessary to provide you with products or services you have requested, or (2) when we have your permission.
